Since its launch in October 2001, the iPod has managed to single handedly put Apple back on the map. If you can think back to this time period, Apple products were thought of as expensive user unfriendly products and PC’s were the going thing. Fast forward to today and we see how the iPod has changed the face of Apple so much, that they even changed their name from Apple Computers to just Apple. They are focusing more on mobile computing and this initiative has brought about excellent products such as the iPhone, the iPod Touch, the Macbook Air and the other mind blowing products we have seen in the last few years.
So who was the genius mind behind this game changing device? While it was a team effort on behalf of the whole of the Apple Corporation the man behind the genius product known as the iPod was a man by the name of Jonathan Ive. He can also be created with the design of the iMac. While Jon Rubenstein can be credited with putting the initial pieces together, it was Ive and his team who came up with the prototypes and tweaked the iPod into what it is today. Because of this great invention there have been many products which were created as a result of the technology of the iPod.
So there you have it, a round of applause for Mr. Ive!
All day today I kept humming a song in my head…and for some odd reason I had no clue where I had heard it, who sang it, or how it got in my head in the first place. I thought maybe I had came up with a new hit! But then I quickly came back to reality and dismissed that idea. So while I was sitting here trying to figure it out the iPod Touch commercial came on and boom! There it was.
At that point I just had to figure out who sang it. While researching I noticed that I was not the only one who thought the song was impressive. There were many other people trying to figure out the name of the song from the iPod touch commercial and after some quick searches I found it!
The song is called “No You girls” by Franz Ferdinand.
Here is a video of the commercial:
While searching I kept coming up with The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – “Around the Bend” and “Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex” by CCS. These are songs for the older commercials and the new one blows these out of the water. Also the iPod touch games that were advertised were amazing. Move over Sony and Nintendo!
We all know that companies will come up with many different versions of product just to boost sales. I mean the overall goal of any company is to make a profit and I am sure Apple is no different. So when the new iPod Touch was released I first thought maybe it’s a little smaller and flashier, big deal. As long as I can play my iPod touch games and watch my movies I would be fine. That being said I still decided to check out the specs and I quickly realized that this was just not a cosmetic upgrade. The 2g iPod Touch was packin’ some heat!
The first big difference is the built in speaker. I always thought this was lacking in the original design so I was thrilled when the implemented this feature.
The second difference in the iPod Touch 2g is the increase in battery life which I thought was huge. Noting like running out of juice in mid flight. The new iPod Touch has 36 hours compared to 22.5 hours of life when listening to music, defiantly worth mentioning.
Ok I know I said the cosmetic upgrade didn’t really matter but I lied. The iPod Touch 2g is much sleeker and the rounded corners give it a good feel in your hand.
iPod Touch 2g comes with the 2.1 upgrade you have to pay $9.95 for the old version.
The newer vision has the Nike + ID which is not that important but pretty cool
And you get to brag that you have the newest version instead of the old dinosaur! “Priceless”
I have to say I was pretty impressed with the upgrades. There were other minor things like the volume control buttons on the side and the ability to get the remote, but the above list alone should justify upgrading. Once again good job Apple!
I have to admit that when the iPod touch came out, I would not have imagined the games would be competing with the Sony PSP! I mean who would have imagined? But more and more it looks as if this unimaginable feet might just be possible. The iPod touch is not just your regular mp3 player. No, by some it is now being considered a full blown portable gaming device. I wonder if Apple was thinking gaming would be this big on what seemed to be an mp3 player with a touch screen. Whether or not this was in their plans, it sure has become a huge hit. With games like Tower Defense, iDracula and Shooter it seems as if Apple will be able to dominate another market really soon.
What the competitors don’t seem to understand is that with Apple’s open source platform, anything is possible. There are millions of developers for the iPod touch games and apps so this will always beat the hundred or so working on other platforms such as the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. These competitors better come up with something soon or they will see their market share continue to diminish to the all might Apple.
Jailbreaking has been a popular term thrown around since the release of the first iPhones and iPod touches. We all know that jailbreaking is a requirement for iPhones to be unlocked and work with other carriers, but what does this mean for iPod touch.
Well contrary to what many think jailbreaking does not mean unlocking. What jailbreaking does is it allows third party applications to run on your iPod touch or your iphone. This means that you can download applications created for the device and use it without going through the App Store. You can imagine the possibilities there are for free iPod touch games, apps, wallpapers movies etc. There are many sites that offer some great innovative applications that will only run on a jailbroken IPod touch or iPhone.
We have a video on just how jailbreaking an iPod touch is done and as you can see it is a simple procedure. It does not require much work and there is no damange that you can do the device. The most that can happen is that you have restore it but you should have your movies, music, games etc already backed up before trying.
Lats face it. We are in a recession and the last thing we need to be spending $ on is on iPod touch games. But from time to time I find myself waiting in line or sometimes jus bored out of my mind and I want a something quick to take my mind off of the bills, and the economy yada yada yada. So I thought what better way than to check out some of the free iPod touch games there are out there.
